The role of Thembeka Shezi which was played by the award-winning Masasa Mbangeni in e.tv soapie, Scandal! has recently come to an end on Wednesday. In the soapie, Thembeka was shot and killed by her rival Mthunzi Mayisa, played by Bongile Mantsai. This is Mbangeni’s second exit from the show after she left the soapie in 2016. 1. Masasa Lindiwe Mbangeni is a South African actress who is popularly known for her role of Thembeka the arch-villain on e.tv’s Scandal.

2. Masasa Mbangeni, is one of the most talented actors in South Africa, and she is very good at playing greedy and hateful characters. We’ve all seen it when she played the badass Thembeka on Scanda.

3. The actress was born on March 6th, 1987 in Port Elizabeth where she was also raised. So, this makes her 33 years old as of 2020.

4. The talented actress studied dramatic arts and pursued a professional career in acting.

5. Additionally, Mbangeni received the Mandela Rhodes scholarship to study in Wits for Bachelor of Arts in Dramatic Arts majoring in Performance and Directing.

6. Even though her passion lies in acting, she is also interested in producing and directing.

7. Before her role as Thembeka on Scandal, she made two guest appearances on TV:

  • As Eunice on Silent Witnesses the BBC crime drama.

8. Mbangeni received two nominations for Best Actress in a TV Soap from the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTA) in 2014 and 2015 for her Thembeka character on Scandal.

9. Additionally, she won the award in 2015. The phenomenal actress also received a nomination for best actress in the inaugural DStv Mzansi Magic Viewers Choice Awards.

10. She took part in the Marie Claire naked campaign for 2015, in the aid of blow the whistle against sexual violence against women and children.
